Grosvenor
The Grosvenor Project involves the development of a new underground coal mine. The project site is located north of Moranbah in Central Queensland and adjoins the Moranbah North Mine site to the north. The mine surface infrastructure is proposed to be located approximately 7km from the Moranbah township. The proposed mine will produce up to 6 Million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of coking coal for the export market. The mine will utilise the longwall mining method and will have a mine life in excess of 25 years. Coal from the Grosvenor Mine will be transported by overland conveyor to the existing Moranbah North Mine. Grosvenor coal will be washed and loaded on to trains using the Moranbah North facilities. The existing Moranbah North Mine facilities will be upgraded to provide additional capacity for Grosvenor Project Coal.
The Grosvenor Project requires approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 before it can be developed. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be prepared as part of the development application. The Draft Terms of Reference for the EIS are on public exhibition from Friday 11 January 2008 until Monday 25 February 2008. The Public Exhibition Notice and the Draft Terms of Reference can be downloaded by clicking on the files below.
Stakeholder Engagement
To ensure social and community issues are incorporated in project planning, a social impact assessment and stakeholder consultation program will be conducted throughout the EIS preparation phase. A community information sheet has been prepared for the Grosvenor Project. The information sheet provides further details regarding the project approval process, the content of the environmental impact statement and the approach to Stakeholder engagement. A copy of the information sheet can be downloaded by clicking on the following file.
